Apartment & Condo Moving

Small space. A move that matters.

Apartment & Condo Moving done right

Your first apartment, a bigger place for the family, or a condo with less upkeep: every new home deserves a careful start. Teddy Bear Moving handles apartment and condo relocations across North and Central Jersey, with a plan for the furniture, the building and the people waiting for their keys.

An apartment community with balconies and shared entrances

A short drive can still mean a long hallway, a tight staircase or a limited elevator reservation. Tell our Fairfield-based team about both buildings before we quote. We can plan the crew, protection and packing help around the actual route from your front door to the truck, then into your new home.

Start with the building, not just the bedroom count

Two one-bedroom apartments can be very different moving jobs. An elevator building with a loading bay needs a different plan from a third-floor walk-up with street parking. Share the floor numbers, stairs, walking distance and largest furniture pieces at both addresses so your estimate reflects the work involved.

  • Floor and unit numbers at pickup and delivery
  • Elevator dimensions and reservation times
  • Staircase turns, narrow doors and long hallways
  • Loading location and access from the truck

Get the paperwork to the right person

Ask each property manager or condo association for its moving instructions. If a certificate of insurance is requested, send us the requirements and recipient details in advance so our team can arrange the appropriate documentation. Confirm reservations and approvals with the building; requesting an estimate does not reserve an elevator or loading space.

  • Building contact and required insurance wording
  • Permitted moving hours and elevator reservations
  • Loading-area instructions and access codes
  • Any building charges or deposits to confirm directly

Keep the furniture. Plan the fit.

The sofa that fits your living room still has to make it through the landing. Send photos and measurements of awkward pieces and tight access points. We discuss basic disassembly before moving day, protect the furniture and the route, and reassemble agreed items after delivery. Tell us about wall-mounted, unusually heavy or delicate pieces so the handling can be assessed before booking.

A little packing help can make a big difference

Pack what you want to handle yourself and leave the agreed rooms or fragile items to us. You can also request unpacking help for the kitchen, bedrooms or a wider part of the home. Keep keys, medication, important documents and first-night essentials with you, and label cartons by destination room. Your estimate should identify the packing, materials and unpacking you choose.

When the lease dates leave a gap

If you need to move out before the next home is ready, ask about storage alongside the move. We can discuss the inventory, expected duration and delivery plan before you commit. Let us know which items you will need during the gap so you can keep them accessible and confirm retrieval arrangements with your coordinator.

Plan storage between homes

Make room for a calmer first night

Before unloading starts, tell the crew where the main pieces belong and which rooms matter first. A simple furniture plan helps keep shared hallways clear and saves repositioning later. Review the completed work with the team, keep your moving paperwork together, and check your building's checkout or move-in instructions before returning any keys.

Questions before moving day

Can you move me from a walk-up apartment?

Yes. Tell us the number of flights, stair dimensions and any tight turns at both homes. Photos of the access and large furniture help us assess the crew and handling before quoting.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance for my building?

Certificates of insurance are available on request. Send the building's requirements, contact details and deadline in advance so the team can review and arrange the documentation. The building must confirm its own approval.

How much does an apartment move cost?

The inventory, stairs or elevators, distance from the truck, travel and selected packing services affect the estimate. Request a written quote and confirm any minimum booking, travel charges and building fees before booking.

Can you help with packing and unpacking?

Yes. Choose full or partial packing and discuss how much unpacking help you want at the new home. Have the work and materials included in your estimate so the crew is scheduled for the scope you need.
