Local moves: compare the total, not only the hourly rate
Your local move may use hourly or job-specific pricing, as stated in your written estimate. The size of the crew, time needed, travel, packing materials and any additional services all affect the estimate. A room count is a starting point; a full inventory gives your coordinator a clearer picture.
List furniture, boxes, garage and basement contents, outdoor items and anything unusually heavy or fragile. Photos or a virtual inventory can help explain items that are difficult to describe.
Access can change the work involved
At both addresses, tell us about stairs, elevators, narrow doorways and the distance from the truck to your front door. Share building loading hours, parking arrangements and certificate-of-insurance requests before booking.
Include every stop. A storage pickup, donation stop or separate delivery requires its own address and access plan.
Ask for these details in writing
- Crew size and hourly rate, or the pricing basis for your interstate move.
- Minimum billable hours and how partial hours are calculated.
- When billable time starts and stops, and how travel is charged.
- Packing labor, materials and any specialty handling charges.
- Storage charges and the arrangements for delivery out of storage.
- Deposit amount, accepted payment methods, any payment-method fees and when the balance is due.
- Cancellation and date-change terms, plus your selected protection option.
Packing and preparation
Our moving service includes furniture blankets, basic furniture disassembly and reassembly, and floor and doorframe protection. Boxes, tape and specialty packing depend on the work quoted. Confirm the materials and packing labor listed in your own estimate.
If you pack yourself, label boxes with the destination room and keep an essentials bag with you. Let us know if your packing plan changes so the crew can arrive prepared.
Long-distance and interstate estimates
For a move from our North or Central Jersey service area to another state, provide the full destination address, inventory and timing requirements. Ask your coordinator to explain the estimate type, included services, delivery arrangements and circumstances that could change the price.
An online guide cannot replace your written estimate. Review your inventory and terms before accepting the booking.
